Understanding Your Blood Sugar Range: A Key to Optimal Health
Maintaining a healthy blood sugar range is crucial for our overall well-being. It's essential to know what constitutes a normal blood sugar range and how we can achieve it through diet, exercise, and monitoring techniques.
The ideal blood sugar range, as defined by the American Diabetes Association (ADA), is 70-130 mg/dL before meals and less than 180 mg/dL after meals for adults. However, this range may vary depending on factors such as age, fitness level, and medications.
To maintain a stable blood sugar range, it's essential to understand how fluctuations in blood sugar occur. Blood sugar spikes can be caused by consuming high-carbohydrate or high-glycemic foods, while drops can result from skipping meals or inadequate caloric intake. Understanding the underlying causes of these fluctuations is crucial for managing and maintaining a healthy blood sugar range.
