I'll say it's not uncommon with little chihuahua puppies. First, don't panic. It looks like a seizure, but the solution is fairly easy. Just be prepared and have Nutri-cal handy. Put a dollop on your finger - about the same amount of toothpaste you would use on your toothbrush. Gently open her mouth and push the Nutri-cal in. She will probably start to lick or slowly swallow the Nutri-cal, and then let her rest for a few minutes. Watch her. Try another dollop in a few minutes. At this time, you'll probably begin noticing her energy level start improving. It'll take time and be patient. But again, your puppy will begin to awaken from this hypoglycemic state. The problem was that Chihuahuas are the smallest breed. They need food available to them throughout the night. I believe in "free feeding" my Chihuahuas for this very reason. Larger breeds can go through the night without food, but not Chihuahuas. Remember, the key is not to panic.
